Among the global issues faced by the world, colonialism is also a significant one. Because of colonialism, intoxicated by power, human beings not only seized resources in an inhumane way but also enslaved other humans. This human behavior affected the entire world—particularly Africa, Asia, and some parts of Europe. The Saraiki region, rich in resources, remained the target of invaders from around the world and endured a long period of imperialist and colonial domination. The effects of the colonial era not only influenced the culture and civilization of this region but also left deep marks on its languages and literature. A study of Saraiki literature under colonial influence reveals a strong resistance against colonialism. In the postcolonial Saraiki literature, one finds a consistent narrative of resistance to colonial rule as well as a deep love for local identity and belonging.
