Abstract

The fine arts and literature share a profound connection with human 
temperament and the surrounding environment. It is for this reason that 
literature has absorbed within itself the impacts of contemporary issues 
and social circumstances. Among the prose genres of literature, the 
novel is one such form whose themes encompass not only 
contemporary issues and social realities but also a deep affection for the 
homeland or, in other words, elements of locality which can be distinctly 
observed. The Saraiki region stands out due to its unique geographical 
features, which include the Cholistan desert, the intermediate (hilly) 
areas, the plains, and the riverine landscapes. In most Saraiki novels, all 
these elements of locality have been depicted with remarkable beauty. 
The present research paper seeks to explore and analyze the elements 
of locality found in Saraiki novels.
